She wanted to go to graduate school in Psychology, but my father encouraged her into the law.

She first worked at Heller Ehrman White & McAuliffe, where she met her second, and current husband Peter. She worked in private practice for a while after that.

Her and Peter began their family with Gideon Wesley, followed by Elias Webster, and most recently Cassidy Caitlin. After taking maternity leave, she stayed on as a full time mother.

She introduced me to the Grateful Dead, Bruce Springsteen and Eric Clapton. It was always fun to visit her in San Francisco, cruising around in her little Fiat convertible, visiting Haight street.

She was my most hip(pie) relative, earthy, sensual and urbane.

She has taken to the mothering thing quite well - besides her three kids she worried quite a bit about me when I my appendix burst.

Having four dependents, three boys in her life is sheer chaos. We share knowing, compassionate glances often when we are in the midst of the madness.

She built this up for herself, marrying someone as intense as Peter, and having three kids.
